Schedule
Receiving dates: October 17-26, 2014

Sale: April 13, 2015. Sale held at Western Livestock Auction, Great Falls, Montana

Eligibility for the test
For bulls born between December 15, 2013 - April 15, 2014

Preconditioning
We recommend starting your calves on some supplemental feed after taking weaning weights to incur less stress when they arrive at the test. Also give pre-conditioning shots 3-4 weeks prior to shipping and boost them.

We suggest you vaccinate for the following:
  • 7 or 8 Way (recommend 2 cc shot)
  • IBR/BVD, with both types 1 & 2 (should include P13-BRSV)
  • Treat for grubs and worms
  • Haemophilus and Pasteurella

  • Health & Brand Inspections
Out of state cattle are required to have a health certificate from your veterinarian and permit number obtained from the Montana Department of Livestock (406) 444-2976 prior to sending the bulls to Montana. If you are in a brand area, do have a brand inspection sent with your bulls! The test is located in Teton County, Montana.

    Trucking
Treasure Bull Test will assist with trucking to the test. Please call or e-mail well in advance if you need assistance in trucking.

    Genetic Defects
Bulls with any genetic defects will not be accepted. If a bull is a potential carrier, he must be tested free in order to sell!

    Entry Fee
We require an entry fee of $200 when the bulls are sent to the test. We require another $200 on January 1, 2014 and $200 on March 1, 2014. The remainder of the expenses are withheld from the sale proceeds of the bulls at the sale. Bulls not qualifying for the sale will be settled out prior to being picked up.

    Registration Certificates/Performance Data
Registration papers, performance data and catalog information must be sent to us no later than January 15, 2015 in order for bulls to be in the sale catalog. Registration papers required on all bulls. If you have your registration papers stored electronically, please make us aware of that.

We recommend sending bulls with a weaning ratio of 100 or higher. All ET bulls are considered to have a weaning ratio of 100. Weaning ratios must come from breed associations.

    Angus Single Shot Jackpot
Limited to 1 bull per breeder. The bull must be nominated at the time the bulls arrive at the test. Entry fee in the Jackpot division is $100. Treasure Bull Test matches the entire entry fee pot and it is divided between the top three bulls with 50% to the winner, 30% for second and 20% for third. Treasure Bull Test will also give awards.

The winners are determined by using the weaning ratio for 1/4, the yearling ratio for 1/4 and the gain ratio for 1/2. Weaning ratio is limited to 110.

    Sale
The sale will be held at Western Livestock Auction, Great Falls, Montana on April 14, 2014. Depending on numbers a large majority of the bulls on test will be sold. Sale order will be determined by the Treasure Bull Test Index. It is 1/3 weaning ratio with a limit of 110, 1/3 gain ratio and 1/3 yearling ratio. All bulls sell according to their TBT index.
